CHEDDON CHAT - FOR PARENTS

For week beginning 12 December ‘05

Christmas is getting ever closer and the children are getting more and more excited!  They are busy, preparing for plays and Carol concerts, making cards and decorations.

The FCSA Christmas Fayre is this Saturday at 2.00 pm in the School Hall.  Please do support it and bring family and friends.

It isn’t too late to send in items for the fayre!  Please send in cakes tomorrow or bring them on Saturday morning.  Tins and bottles are still needed please and any filled jam jars would be most welcome.  Please send any donations you have in to school tomorrow.  Thank you.

Thank you to everyone who supported the Bingo evening last Friday.  It was a great success and provided an enjoyable evening for everyone who came.

Key Stage 2 Carol Service – 6.30 pm Tuesday

13 December – Cheddon Church

We do hope you will be able to join us for this Service where Years 3, 4, 5 & 6 will present a medley of Carols, poems and stories to start your Christmas.

There will be a collecting plate for `Water Aid`, the  children’s chosen Charity for this year.

The children may wear ordinary clothes and should be seated with their class by 6.20 pm.  We expect the evening to finish at approximately 7.20 – 7.30 pm.

Wherever possible please share transport to and from the Church.

Key Stage 1 Play – 6.30 pm Wednesday 14

December – School Hall

The children (Classes 1, 2 & Yr 2 children in Class 3 only) need to arrive in their classroom at 6.15 pm (no earlier) already dressed in their costume.

Because of the limit on seating due to Health and Safety regulations we have been unable to meet the demand for tickets for the evening performance.

We would ask that if possible you try to make alternative arrangements for pre-school children and Key Stage 2 children will have the chance to see it on Monday.

Seating on Wednesday evening is by ticket only so please remember to bring your ticket/s with you.

We expect the evening to finish at approximately 7.30 pm.

Thank you to all those who have helped ease this situation by offering to come to the `preview` performance at 2.00 pm on Tuesday 13 December.  Again, please bring your tickets with you.

NB:  Please ensure your requests for tickets reach the School Office tomorrow (Friday).

School Christmas Parties

The Christmas Party for all classes is on Monday 19 December.

The children may wear `mufti` to school that day but PLEASE could they wear something warm and sensible and with shoes suitable for running as they will still be outside for playtimes and lunchtimes.

(Choir, who will be entertaining at Red Lodge,  please wear uniform and bring `mufti` to change into at lunchtime.

There will be games and tea between 1.15 and 3.45 pm followed by entertainment and surprises in our School Hall until 5.00 pm.

Wherever possible please could you arrange to share transport when collecting children from the party.  Please use the playground for parking as we need a clear through route in the car park for the arrival and departure of Santa’s sleigh.  If you arrive before or during Santa’s visit please could you wait well away from the front of the school.  This will leave it free for the children to have a good view of Santa’s journey and arrival and also for Classes 1 & 2 to get close to him when he arrives.  Thank you for your help at such an exciting time!

Please collect your child from their classroom at

5.00 pm.  Mrs Dallas would be grateful for volunteers to help with Class 1’s party.

Party Food

Please sign up next week on classroom lists for food you are able to contribute.  Thank you.

Please remember to send a packed lunch as usual on Party Day.

End of Term Carol Service

Parents are warmly invited to join us for our end of term Carol Service at 11.15 am in the School Hall on Tuesday 20 December.
